October 2018 Food Events in Moore County, NC

To say that October is packed with fun food events is an understatement! We held off a little on this month’s list, and it’s still FULL of activities you won’t want to miss. Take a look, and let us know which ones you’re heading to in the comments.

October 12: 26th Annual Sardine Festival
Come and enjoy a free lunch of Sardines, Crackers, Moon Pies, RC Colas, and Cokes! Last year’s Sardine Queen will arrive by fire truck at 12 pm, and the new 2018 Queen will be crowned! Donations are greatly appreciated to help support youth programs across Moore County.

October 16: Chef’s Feast Sandhills
Come out and enjoy the best food in town, a silent auction, free wine, excellent community fundraiser, entertainment, and more!

October 18: OysterFest
Come out for oysters and the likes and of course the pearly whites!

October 20: Oktoberfest at Railhouse Brewery
Come out for drinking games, brats and pretzels, and a very special Railhouse Festbier! And prizes for the best lederhosen and dirndl.

October 20: Sip, Sip, Hooray: Champagne Tasting
Join us for an afternoon of luxury, where you’ll experience 4 glasses of bubbly from different countries (including one very high end tasting) and a complimentary glass of champs. You’ll learn everything from how to choose a bottle you’ll love to what to serve it with.

October 20: Southern Pines Brewing Co. 4th Anniversary Celebration
Come visit Southern Pines Brewing Company to help celebrate their 4th Anniversary! The celebration runs from 12:00 – 10:00 PM, and is packed with activities throughout the day. We will have a large outdoor stage where some of our favorite bands will be playing. Multiple food trucks will be on site, providing a diverse array of food. Activities for you and the kids? Definitely! They will also be releasing our brand new line of merchandise at the Anniversary, so you do not want to miss out on this! Courtesy of The Murphy Insurance Agency, the No. 88 Nationwide Chevrolet SS show car will be on site as well!

October 24: Leadmine Grand Opening Anniversary

October 24: Celebrating October’s Full Hunter’s Moon
Celebrate October’s Full Hunter’s Moon by indulging in the Super Moon Platter for two which includes snow crab legs, fresh oysters, shrimp, mussels, clams, scallops, and King Crab.

October 24: Pumpkin Beer Dinner at The Sly Fox
Enjoy 4 Course Dinner paired with 4 Pumpkin Beers. Be sure to make your reservations.

October 25: Monster Mash Mixology
It’s a graveyard smash at Elliotts! Arise from your humble abode and join us at our laboratory for 3 bites and 3 frights… I mean flights! It’s sure to be a ghoulish good time and there may even be a costume contest. $20 per person++. Be sure to make your reservations.

October 27: California Classics Wine Tasting at Etalia Pizza
From Napa to Sonoma, Paso Robles to Santa Barbara there aren’t many types of wine California winemakers can’t produce! So much diversity in terroir means there’s a perfect place to grow nearly every kind of grape. In fact, more than 100 varieties across the state, giving California winemakers the latitude to create complex varietals and unique, expressive blends.

Taste 15+ wines with a focus on the classics such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfandel, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. 5 wines from Trione Vineyard and Winery will be sampled by a representative of the winery. All wines will be available to purchase/order at below retail pricing at the tasting.

October 27: Oktoberfest in the Village of Pinehurst
The evening kicks off with Kinderfest, a fun festival for children and families to enjoy. There will be games, crafts, face paint and a Halloween costume contest from 4PM-6PM. Following Kinderfest, they’ll have traditional Oktoberfest activities from 6PM-9PM featuring German music from the Holzhackern Tyrolean Band, a stein-holding contest, stein relay races and the third annual pumpkin-apple baking contest. Food and beverages will be available to purchase throughout the day so be sure to bring your appetite!

October 28: Pumpkins & Pints
Come have a beer and try to best the crowd in a pumpkin carving contest. Pumpkins and carving knives will be provided, and two beers will be included in the ticket price. Practice at home and bring your skills, because the winner receives a free growler and fill from SPBC.

October 28: Trick-or-Treat Trail
Come in costume any time between 2 and 4 pm to enjoy a Halloween-themed trail and find some treats along the way!

October 30: Halloween Candy & Wine Pairing
Exactly what wine goes best with leftover Halloween candy?!? We’ll be pairing some of your favorite candies with some great every day wines! More details to come… Please call to reserve your seat!
