March 2018 Food Events in Moore County, NC

Happy March! Here are several interesting events happening around the community this month.

March 9: Peeps Diorama Contest
The 10th annual Peeps Diorama Contest will run from March 7 until April 7, with judging on April 9. The contest, sponsored by the Friends of the Library, invites participants to submit a diorama depicting their favorite book with Peeps as the main characters. Digital videos are also accepted. Information on entering the contest can be found at the Library’s website.

March 10: Pizza, Pasta, and Putting with Live Music at Longleaf Golf & Family Club
Stop by Longleaf Golf & Family Club for pizza, pasta, and putting! They are going to have live music with Rod and Tom from 5:00pm-8:00pm. Bring your putter or use one of theirs for Tic-Tac-Putt, 8-Ball Putting, and the Last One Standing game!

March 17: Coffee Class at Buggy Town Coffee
Learn more about your favorite beverage, taste different coffees side by side, and hone your skills at brewing a better cup at home. All attendees will get a 20% discount on brewing merch and retail coffee on the day of the class.

March 14: Art of Cooking Series at Elliotts on Linden: Street Food
Check out the menu as The Art of Cooking Series continues with Street Food! Take a stroll throught the great curbside cuisines of the world as Chef Mark Elliott showcases Street Food with Demonstration, Discussion and a 4-Course Dinner. Please call for reservations. Seating is limited.

March 17: St. Patrick’s Day at The Sly Fox
Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day at The Fox! Corned Beef and Cabbage All Day! $4 pt. Guinness.

March 17: Sandhills PRIDE St. Patrick’s Day Happy Hour
Join the Sandhills PRIDE leprechauns for a bite and a Guinness to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. For just a wee $12, they’ll have a bonny spread to fill you up, and a cash bar will be there to wet your whistle. Wear your green, and celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with Sandhills PRIDE, your friends at the end of the rainbow.

March 17: St. Patricks Day Parade Party at Drum & Quill Public House
Guinness, Cornbeef & Cabbage & Jameson’s Irish Whiskey and Ginger Beer for an Irish Mule – just some of the items you get at Drum & Quill while watching the yearly parade go by The Drum & Quill Public House.

March 17: Corned Beef & Books
What could be better than Corned Beef & Books this St. Patty’s Day?! Enjoy a delicious St. Patty’s lunch featuring corned beef, cabbage, roll, and choice of drink from Elliotts on Linden.

March 17: St. Patrick’s Day at Pine Crest Inn
Come to the Pine Crest Inn for a St. Patrick’s Day meal in the Pub or the Dining Room. Call for reservations.

March 18: English Carvery at The Sly Fox
The Sly Fox traditional Sunday roast features Roast Lamb, Roasted Potatoes, Mashed Potatoes with Roasted Carrots and Parsnips, Fresh Mint Sauce, and Gravy.

March 18: Beer 101
Don’t know your IPA from your ABV or your IBU? Know you like “dark beers” but not sure why? Think a “sour beer” is a brew gone bad? Then this is for you! Mike Thomas will be leading a class out of the Southern Pines Brewing taproom. The brewery will be closed to outside business, so the class will have exclusive access to the taproom throughout the event. Sit around the bar with beer as Mike explains styles, passes around ingredients like grain and hops, and even does a cheese pairing with one of the beers. You will then get to go on a private tour of the production space, where you will get a broader understanding and appreciation for how beer is made.

March 19: 2018 Farm-City Banquet
Enjoy a catered meal and entertainment at the Moore County Cooperative Extension Service and the Moore County Soil & Water Conservation District Farm-City Banquet. RSVP by March 12th.

March 22: Eat Your Vegetables: Lunch & Learn at the Exchange
The Sandhills Women’s Exchange will be hosting a fun Lunch & Learn with Jan Leitschuh of the Sandhills Farm to Cooperative. The lunch will feature in-season produce from local area farms.

March 24: Ostrich Meat + Beer Pairing
Try a unique, fun experience: pairing ostrich meat with beer (and wine) at Triangle Wine Company. They will be cooking up hot, fresh, ostrich meat on the spot for you to pair alongside some delicious, ice cold beers.They’ve already hand selected the best beers for this tasting, so all you have to do is come sip and eat and see what pairings you like best! The BEST part… it’s FREE!!

March 27: Global Cuisine Dinner Series: Italy
Visit Elliotts on Linden for a 3-stop culinary tour of some of the most iconic and beautiful places in the world. Enjoy a 4 Course Dinner for $30pp++. Add wine pairings for $20pp++. Please call for reservations. Seating is limited.
