Thanksgiving is only a few weeks away! If you want to let someone else make the big meal this year, there are several options in Moore County.

From picking up a pre-cooked meal to take to your family (if you want to pretend you made it, we won’t tell!) or dining out, here are a few options that you have for a delicious Thanksgiving meal in the Sandhills.

Pine Crest Thanksgiving 2017 Take Out

Get your meal to-go at the Pine Crest Inn in Pinehurst. Choose from two different package options (depending on the dining needs of your group). They offer free delivery within a 10-mile radius of Pinehurst, but all orders must be placed by Friday, November, 17.

If you’d prefer to eat at The Pine Crest Inn, they have an option for that too. Their annual Thanksgiving dinner will be held from 11:30AM to 6PM this year, and costs $29 per person. Reservations are required, so call early and claim your spot.

Ironwood Thanksgiving 2017 menu

Ironwood Cafe will be having their annual Thanksgiving meal on the 23rd as well. The price depends on what your main entrée is, but you can choose between traditional turkey, steak, and seafood. Reservations are highly recommended. Call or reserve your table online.

Filly Colt Thanksgiving 2017 menu

Filly&Colts at Little River is offering two options for Thanksgiving dining: a grand buffet from 12PM to 6PM or a Dining Room Meal from 2PM to 8PM. Both options offer a wide variety of meal selection choices, but you do have to choose early because reservations are required. You can call to reserve your spot or make your reservation online.

Elliotts on Linden is serving their 3-course family style dinner and dessert bar from 12PM to 6PM. Call and make your reservations early, as the Elliotts on Linden Thanksgiving dinner is a very popular event.

The Sly Fox Thanksgiving 2017 dinner is also a 3-course dinner and dessert bar from 11:30AM to 5PM. Call and make your reservations early for this dinner as well.

November 11: Guided Meditation & Vegetarian Pot Luck
Attend a Guided Meditation focused on Calming Emotions followed by a vegetarian pot luck. Please bring a dish to share. Please do not wear any scents.

November 11: Veterans Day Oyster Roast Fundraiser
The First Annual Veteran’s Day Oyster Roast at Southern Pines Brewery will give all proceeds to STOIC, an organization that provides a training program for transitioning Army Special Forces back to everyday life. The event will be held on Saturday, November 11 from 3pm- 8pm. There will be a silent auction, live local music by Bones Fork and Whiskey Pines, and a bouncy house for the kids.

November 12: Chili Cook Off & Freedom 5K Run
Support a local charity and taste over 20 Chili’s from individuals and local restaurants/businesses. There will be 3 categories this year…Restaurant, Backyard (non restaurant business) and Individual.

November 15: Celebrate the Apple by Elliotts on Linden
Celebrate the Apple Chef’s Dinner! 4-Course Dinner showcasing Moore County Apples. Pairing menu available featuring James Creek and Stargazer Ciders. Please call for reservations. Seating is limited.

November 17: Oyster Roast and Downeast Seafood Feast
The Oyster Roast & Down East Seafood Feast sells out every year, so get your tickets early! They bring in Keyzer’s Catering direct from Hyde County on the NC Coast. If you haven’t had the pleasure of enjoying Mark’s cooking, this is your chance.

November 18: Second Annual 90s Bar Crawl
90s bar crawl with a costume contest at Jefferson – both individual AND group.

Fall has arrived! There are so many interesting food events happening all around Moore County, NC this month. Here are several you should check out:

October 11: Pumpkin Beer Dinner at The Sly Fox
No better way to get ready for fall than the Pumpkin Beer Dinner at The Fox! Enjoy a 4-course dinner paired with Pumpkin Beers. Please call for reservations. Seating is limited.

October 13: International Sardine Festival
You can be an authentic Sandhills native once you’ve attended the Sardine Festival. Last year’s Sardine Queen will arrive by fire truck at 12 pm, and the new 2017 Queen will be crowned shortly afterwards. Everyone is invited to Aberdeen Lake Park, just off US Hwy 1, for a lunch of sardines, crackers, Moon Pies, RC Colas, and Coca-Colas. The sardines and other delicacies are free, but people are encouraged to make a small donation.

October 14: Southern Pines Brewing 3rd Anniversary Celebration
Come visit Southern Pines Brewing Company to help them celebrate their 3rd Anniversary! The celebration is packed with activities throughout the day. There will be a large outdoor stage, multiple food trucks on site, a bouncy house for kids, and the No. 88 Nationwide Chevrolet SS show car will be on site!

October 14: Wine Expert Night at Pinehurst’s The Holly Inn
Join Wine Expert Paolo Pellizzari of Bacco Selections for a delectable taste of hand-selected Italian wines. Bacco Selections is an Italian-American company importing fine Italian wines into North Carolina with a mission to import renowned wines that are not yet available here. They discover emergent boutique wines with small production that have not yet entered the U.S. market. Paolo and his staff personally visit the facilities, meet owners and workers and taste wines before deciding which to import.

October 15: English Carvery at The Sly Fox
The traditional Sly Fox Sunday roast features Roast Beef, Roasted Potatoes, Mashed Potatoes with Roasted Carrots and Parsnips, Yorkshire Puddings, Horseradish, and Gravy.

October 21: Wild Game Dinner – Celebrating Argentina
One of the best-known cultural symbols of Argentina, the gaucho is a rough, tough, free-riding horseman of the pampa and proud cousin of the North American cowboy. A prominent cattle-producing region, the pampa boasts vast, open pastures managed by modern-day gauchos who produce some of the best grass-fed beef in the world. This dinner will celebrate the heritage of the La Pampa province with a four-course meal showcasing the diverse flavors and agricultural products that are abundant in the country.

October 27: Lunch Bunch at The Market Place
The Market Place has a nice selection of salads, quiche and soups (and more), including vegetarian dishes and “specials of the day, not to mention homemade cookies and other baked goodies! This lunch is hosted by the Newcomers of the Pinehurst Area. All are welcome.

October 28: Village of Pinehurst Oktoberfest
The day kicks off with Kinderfest, a fun festival for children, with lots to see and do for the whole family. There will be carnival games, entertainment, and contests. The fun continues in the evening for adults with a traditional Oktoberfest featuring German music from the Holzhackern Tyrolean band, folk dancing, the second annual Pumpkin-Apple Baking Contest, and an Oktoberfest Games Arena. Brats, sauerkraut, pretzels, hot dogs, pizza, sandwiches, soda, beer and wine will be available.

September 30: The Axis Deer: Nose to Tail Wine Dinner
Executive Chef Thierry Debailleul and team will present a four-course meal featuring the Axis deer, which is widely praised as the best tasting, most tender game meat available. They will honor the whole animal by reviving nose-to-tail eating, a style of cooking in which almost no part of the animal is wasted. This practice, which dates back to at least the Middle Ages, has recently reemerged with diners finding the less loved “odd bits” are often more flavorful than the standard fare.

May 6: Blue & Brews: A Festival at the Farm
Enjoy a day at the farm with bluegrass performances by The Josh Daniel/Mark Schimick Project, Tommy Edwards Bluegrass Experience, Vickie Vaughn Band, and Hank, Pattie & The Current. Railhouse Brewery and Southern Pines Brewing Company will be on the grounds serving cold beer all day along with Black Rock Vineyards! Chewy’s Smokin’ BBQ, and The Market Place Restaurant will also be available for concessions.

May 12: Chef & Maker Weekend: Sandhills Pig Pickin’
The kick-off to the Chef & Maker Series weekend featuring Clark Barlowe.
