Food Trucks in Moore County, NC (Part 1)

Food trucks are a relatively new way for restaurants to provide fast, freshly-made food to patrons. Instead of a brick-and-mortar restaurant, food truck owners park their trucks in various locations around town and serve food directly from their truck. There are stringent health codes and sanitary regulations that have to be maintained, which helps prevent the quality of the food prepared on-the-go from dipping below regular standards.

Because the food is prepared on the spot in the truck, the menu is more limited than you’d find in a regular restaurant, but the trade off is that you get an alternative to traditional fast food options.

There are several food trucks in Moore County, and as they grow in popularity we expect to see more popping up in the area. Dawg Wagon and Lila’s Tacos, Tortas & Burritos are two very popular trucks in Southern Pines.

Dawg Wagon is located on the corner of 15/501 and Murry Hill Road. They serve delicious and sizable hot dogs with a wide variety of toppings available. They’re open every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday from 11AM until 3PM, and you can visit their Facebook page for updates and changes in schedule.

Another truck on the same corner is Lila’s Tacos, Tortas & Burritos. They serve delicious Mexican food and specialty drinks. Be sure to try something with cilantro on it. It gets rave reviews and always adds the perfect amount of flavor to everything it’s on.  They’re open on Monday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday from 9AM – 3PM.

Dawg Wagon and Lila’s Tacos, Tortas & Burritos have an agreement to not be open at the same time, so you’ll have to decide which one you want to visit before decide when to go.
